HB Mr. B

Today could be chucked in a bin
A grounded plane with damaged skin
Another plane but had to wait
I missed the bus ’cause we were late
Then had to stand out in the cold
All the delays had gotten old
And traffic as we got to Naas
We crawled along at a snail’s pace
Then at long last, I made it home
And quickly bought Glory to Rome
‘Cause Tony said to this weekend
And I obey my foul-mouthed friend

Autumn got him!

While walking through the town
The beauty’s all around
The leaves are falling down
And scattered on the ground
The orange and the brown
Mere mortals are spellbound

Rail to nowhere

Sitting on a train
In the driving rain
Searching for the perfect station
Don’t know where to go
Hope we get there slow
Waiting for my destination
Every single place
Wants to plead its case
Each town has a revelation
Though the people there
Do not seem to care
All around this awesome nation

Water restrictions in Ireland?!?

It’s been so long without the rain
Sure it’s as hot as France or Spain
The whitest Irish has a tan
We’re now under a hosepipe ban
With dirty cars and dying plants
We need to do a Riverdance
Dry kiddie pools – ain’t that a bitch
While water sprays the hurling pitch!

I had to buy a fan!

Another day of scorching sun
This heat wave never will be done
Despite my sweat I won’t complain
‘Cause soon enough it will piss rain

#Fireland

I can’t believe it’s so damn hot
A good day to be on a yacht
This island cannot take this heat
It’s used to burning gas and peat
There’s no AC, and I’ve no fan
I’m one big, sweaty, melted man
There’s no more water from the sink
I guess I’ll go back on the drink

I’m not ok, but I’m ok

I am sad, but I’m not that sad
I will not let it get that bad
I’m alone, but I’m not alone
I stay in touch using my phone
I’m afraid, but I’m not afraid
Won’t let it rain on my parade
I am blue, but I’m not that blue
I carry on because of you

Or wear your socks to bed

Chilly nights get awfully lonely
When you’ve lost your one and only
So that you don’t feel defeated
Make sure that your bed is heated

Hello darkness my old friend

Every cloud has rain in it
Every tear has pain in it
Every cough has germs in it
Every corpse has worms in it
Every lie has true in it
Every truth has screw in it
Every gasp has breath in it
Every life has death in it

Alamo Creek Fire

All the hills are brown and dry
Temperatures are way too high
All it takes is one small spark
Burning branches, leaves, and bark
Mother Nature starts to cry
Smoke and ashes fill the sky
Most within have quickly fled
Those that didn’t are soon dead

Everybody spread the word

Last weekend we did celebrate
Jean’s fond farewell to forty-eight
We drove up north to watch a play
And spent the night in Morro Bay
The drive was smooth, the weather fine
We ate good food and drank great wine
So many friends to hang out with
To honor her this June the Fifth
She’s so awesome, I have to say
We should make this a holiday

Let’s have a ball for summerall

Though fall is still three weeks away
Summer concludes on Labor Day
The calendar may not agree
But brand new shows are on TV
School has returned and football too
We have a chance for something new
Between breakfast and midday lunch
Someone created champagne brunch
So after summer, before fall
We should declare a “summerall”
And just like brunch we drink champagne
While summer bods are on the wane

Show me your moon

When I see the moon at night
I know everything’s all right
When the moon is out at dawn
I know that I can go on
When it’s in the afternoon
I know that it came too soon
When there is no moon at all
I crumple into a ball

That’s why I wear a hat

I’m pretty sure humidity
Increases the stupidity
The way that people talk and act
You’d think they all were smoking crack
It’s only moisture in the air
The most it does is fuck up hair

CA is to the left of TX

Too much rain in the Midwest
Poor Texans can get no rest
California has no rain
This long drought is such a pain
If that rain could come out west
We would all be far less stressed
Scientists could find a way
Texans want to kneel and pray
They could pray with all their might
But they’re too far to the right
